Although this miniature portrait is unsigned, when it was acquired the sitter was identified as Archduchess Maria Elinor.A very kind visitor has sent me an image of an oil on canvas painting by Giovanni Battista LAMPI (signed and dated 1781) of Archduchess Maria Anna of Habsburg (1738-1789) who can be seen as the same sitter. The image of the oil painting was taken at a different angle, so it is not immediately obvious it is the same lady, but when the headdress and necklace are compared, it is clear that the miniature was copied from the oil portrait. 283
